Tormek SE-77 Square Edge Jig

At first I struggled with this jig. I kept getting the cutting edge off 90 degrees. There are two screws (meant for grinding a camber on plane irons) which can be used to compensate for this angle, but eventually I found that I was just pressing down too hard on the support rail. Once a good technique is mastered, it is possible to get an excellent cutting edge very quickly (easily less than 10 mins from start to finish on a damaged plane iron). Great bit of kit.

Well made as all Tormek products, purchased as have invested in diamond wheel, have not used yet.

I bought a t4 and that doesnt come with any jigs. This is my first jig. Its well worth watching the sharpening video on the tormek web site. This is very well made and well thought out. I have found that Some of my chisels are not sittIng square to the jig when right against the stop so its always worth checking with a small square. The stops are very useful for preventing the blade to fall off the stone. Very pleased.

Bought this to replace the original square edge jig, a much more robust and better made device, should have bought one a few years ago. much easier to use and far more versatile than the older version .

Bought this as I recently bought a wetstone of a different brand with a faulty square edge jig and brought the Tormek jig to replace it. The difference in quality is worlds apart, but then again so is the price. You need to make sure all the necessary adjustments are as should be, then you'll be fine, a well thought out product !
